Wheaton is a large city located in northern Illinois. It is part of the Chicagoland metropolitan area and is located about 30 miles west of downtown Chicago. It is home to the DuPage County Courthouse and is one of the largest cities located in DuPage County. Following the removal of Native American Indians from the area of Wheaton in the 1830s, Erastus Gary, Jesse Wheaton, and Warren Wheaton traveled from New England and claimed hundreds of acres. The three men gave right-of-way through their property to a budding railroad. The local train depot was named Wheaton Depot. The construction and naming of the depot gave rise to a new community. By 1859, the community was named Wheaton and incorporated as a village.
Today, Wheaton is a beautiful city. It is an attractive community for individuals and families seeking an ideal Chicago suburb.
